On Sunday, September 10th, early in the morning, the Dibrugarh Police received a report of a deceased body discovered on the Dibrugarh Town By-pass. The victim was identified as Mahek Sharma, a 20-year-old resident of Khalihamari area in Dibrugarh, Assam. Upon arrival at the scene, officers observed that the victim's body exhibited severe injury marks. The body was found lying on the road near a car bearing registration number AS-06-AH-1143. Blood stains were also discovered inside the vehicle, and scratch marks, consistent with nails, were visible on the neck of the suspect, Aziz Ahmed who was found lying alongside with no injury marks. According to preliminary information, Mahek Sharma had gone for a drive with Aziz Ahmed on the previous day, Saturday, September 9th, at around 3:30 pm. The subsequent investigation revealed that Aziz Ahmed, a married man and a father of two children, had been pressuring Mahek Sharma to engage in a relationship with him for the past six months. Mahek Sharma's mother, Moushumi Sharma, who is a teacher and lived alone with her daughter, made a statement to the police. She claimed that Aziz Ahmed had been harassing her daughter for the past six months, and when she threatened to file a police complaint against him, he had issued threats of dire consequences. According to Moushumi Sharma, on the day of the incident, Aziz Ahmed forcibly took her daughter for a drive at 3:30 pm and later killed her in a cold-blooded manner. The Dibrugarh Police have initiated a homicide investigation into the matter. Aziz Ahmed is the prime suspect in this case due to the evidence found at the scene, the bloodstains in his car, and the scratches on his neck. He will be taken into custody for further questioning and legal proceedings.
The investigation is ongoing, and the police will gather additional evidence, interview witnesses, and conduct forensic examinations to determine the circumstances surrounding Mahek Sharma's death.
